Each year, BMI invites national and international literary figures to engage the university and its surrounding communities in a series of panels and readings. These events offer a public platform for timely political and social debate by creating dialogue, in opposition to monologue, as a necessary tool in the deepening of cross-cultural understanding. Each year’s program is designed by BMI’s Event Planning Committee one calendar year in advance, with the goal of addressing contemporary themes of importance, rather than current events, through lively communication between people of unlike minds.
All BMI panels and readings are free and open to the public. To view this year’s calendar of events, please visit blackmountaininstitute.org.
